This is really helpful, I'll be sure to try your method when I draw an anime style character :)

I've been trying to follow this guide but I get stuck at the "Oil Brush" part... What's the density/min. size of your brush, and what kind of brushing technique do you use with it? D: Mine never seems to turn out anywhere close to yours.

I know this feel!
I think the problem is that, we don't draw the same way. Like, the pressure you apply to your works could greatly affect the outcome of the actual tools. That being said, I'm pretty sure Curryuku uses just the regular 'ol brush' [ its oil but they misspelled it on sai ]
If you're really stuck, the biggest feature of hte oil brush is literally the texture. Where it says "simple circle" on your tool panel you should change it to "spread", that's the biggest feature of the tool in my opinion ;;

Ohh! Thank you so much for your detailed reply! I'll give 'spread' a try. Your art looks great by the way.

So, I've checked the layer clip, but now the shading won't show up. The layer clip is above the hair's base color layer. Please help and sorry for the noobie question. I know next to nothing about using SAI :|
